The Board of Selectmen will hold a special meeting on Thursday, May 18 at 7 pm at the firehouse. On the agenda will be a public hearing required by the Connecticut Department of Housing as part of an application for a Community Development Block Grant to partially fund the renovation of Town Hall. A representative from Eastern Connecticut Housing Opportunities will present information and take questions about the grant.

This hearing will also include a presentation of conceptual plans for the Town Hall project. Two options will be presented, both of which will entail major renovation of the building, including foundation repairs, updates to all mechanical and electrical systems, removal of barriers to access for disabled, reduction of energy use and carbon footprint, reconfiguration of interior space to create private and public meeting areas, and addressing an ongoing property ownership issue.

This hearing will be a chance for you to learn about and discuss with us the building's challenges and the proposed solutions, as well as the efforts to raise the funds necessary for the project. Town Hall is a vital part of our historic village. I hope you will attend the hearing, which will be available online as well as in-person.
