Department of Public Works

The Scotland Department of Public Works operates out of the town garage at 42 Pinch Street. Its primary duty is maintenance and repairs to our 38 [ck] miles of town road. The DPW crew opens roads blocked by trees and other obstacles, plows snow, clears storm drains, and oversees paving projects, among other duties. It also performs minor repairs on town buildings, maintains town cemeteries and parks and provides grounds maintenance services to the library, firehouse, and school.

If you observe hazards in the roadway or other conditions that need attention from the road crew during business hours (730 am-4 pm, M-F), please contact the DPW at 860 456 8625. After hours, email the first selectman. If the condition constitutes an emergency (people trapped in cars, trees fully blocking a road, wires down, etc.) then please report the condition to the dispatcher at 911.
